Microporous Borocarbonitrides BxCyNz: Synthesis, Characterization, and Promises for CO2 Capture

Abstract: Porous borocarbonitrides (denoted BCN) were prepared through pyrolysis of the polymer stemmed from dehydrocoupled ethane 1,2-diamineborane (BH3NH2CH2CH2NH2BH3, EDAB) in the presence of F-127. These materials contain interconnected pores in the nanometer range with a high specific surface area up to 511 m2 · g−1. Gas adsorption of CO2 demonstrated an interesting uptake (3.23 mmol · g−1 at 0 °C), a high CO2/N2 selectivity as well as a significant recyclability after several adsorption–desorption cycles. For comp… Show more

“…[15][16] The Raman results confirm the formation of BCN nanosheets. [15,17] As shown in the Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectra (Figure S5), the broad peak observed at 3413 cm À 1 corresponds to the stretching vibration of NÀ H. The peaks at 1634 and 1193 cm À 1 can be assigned to the stretching vibrations of CÀ N and CÀ N, respectively. The successful Angewandte Chemie doping of B can be identified by the peaks at 1441 and 774 cm À 1 , which correspond to BÀ N stretching and BÀ N bending vibrations, respectively.…”

“…The as-prepared microspheres covering the surface produces a reduction in its surface energy. Using the pyrolysis approach, Mighri et al 48 synthesized porous BCN using the polymer derived from dehydrocoupled ethane-1,2-diamineborane (BH 3 NH 2 CH 2 CH 2 NH 2 BH 3 , EDAB) in the presence of F-127. Initially, a definite amount of EDAB and F-127 was dissolved in anhydrous tetrahydrofuran.…”
