Abstract:The rotational stiffness of a radial tire is one of the most important structural properties of the sidewall, and it has been evaluated conventionally by using a simplified model. However, in this paper, it is found that the conventional shear modulus used for the calculation of the stiffness is not micromechanically consistent. We examine the conventional shear modulus of the sidewall from the viewpoint of micromechanics, and present a new micromechanically consistent shear modulus for evaluating the rotation… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
