“…Dicumyl peroxide (DCP) was added during the process, in 2 min, for all investigated blends, with contents of 0.3, 0.5, and 0.7 phr, as displayed in Table 2. It is worth noting that both PLA and also EVA 1 and EVA 2 were individually added to DCP, using the internal mixer, for comparative purposes, and thus verifying the behavior of neat polymers upon addition of dicumyl peroxide contents.…”

“…Regarding EVA 2 , a different behavior was observed; for DCP contents of 0.3 and 0.5 phr, EVA 2 did not turn into powder, and a very high torque was observed compared to neat EVA 2 ; upon addition of 0.7 phr of DCP, a behavior similar to that of EVA 1 was observed, with practically complete transformation of EVA 2 into powder, indicating a high reticulation. This distinct behavior between the two types of EVA, as well as the need for a higher DCP content for EVA 2 to fully crosslink, is due to the higher vinyl acetate content in EVA 1 (28%) compared to EVA 2 (19%), having a greater amount of tertiary carbons and greater feasibility of crosslinking.…”
