“…In addition, exclusion of the eyes with refractive error <-12.0D may be also related with the absence of macular retinoschisis in our patients. Macular retinoschisis has been frequently demonstrated in eyes with myopia beyond this criterion,[16], [17] although some reported patients had less degree of myopia [18], [19]. Meanwhile, of the 22 patients with retinoschisis, 13 were followed up for more than 1 year.…”

“…The tigroid fundus with patchy areas of chorioretinal atrophy provides a poor contrast background for the assessment of subtle retinal changes. Most studies have reported increased CFT in MF5 19 23 25 29 30 in the range of 400–500 μm, with reduction in thickness after successful resolution of MF. In our study, the CFT was the main predictor of postoperative visual acuity.…”

“…Many studies have shown that vitrectomy, with or without internal limiting membrane (ILM) peeling and gas tamponade, is an effective treatment for myopic foveoschisis [3841]. However, Gaucher et al [42] reported that a macular hole may develop spontaneously or possibly even after vitreous surgery, as observed in nine of the 29 eyes assessed in their long-term follow-up study.…”

“…In myopic foveoschisis both air and gases appear to be effective tamponades. Hwang et al [41] reported that the visual acuity of patients with a partial air tamponade did not differ from that of patients with a C 3 F 8 gas tamponade at the final follow-up. However, this is in contrast with the observations reported in Zheng et al's [43] study of the surgical outcomes of vitrectomy for myopic foveoschisis.…”
