The sensitivity and optical properties of silver nanoprisms (triangular plates with round‐truncated corners) are investigated in this paper. Results of boundary element method simulations are compared with experimental results and literature data. Based on electron microscopy images of the synthesized nanoprisms, a single‐particle model is set up for simulations with three running parameters: edge length, thickness, and roundness (defined as the radius of the circumscribed circle divided by the edge length). These geometric parameters can be optimized during chemical synthesis to create sensors with improved sensitivity. The effect of biomolecular layers is also investigated. As a novel approach to improve the agreement between the simulated and experimentally measured extinction spectra, the single‐particle model is extended to consider the variation of the prisms' parameters in the form of distributions. The resulting extinction cross‐section spectra correspond well with the experimental data. The calculated bulk refractive index sensitivity is 670 nm/RIU (RIU stands for refractive index unit) for the single particle model (length = 150 nm, thickness = 10 nm, and roundness = 0.1), while (690 ± 5) nm/RIU for the extended model. The presented model and obtained relations between sensitivity and geometry can be effectively used to design and optimize the fabrication technologies for silver nanoprism‐based sensing applications.

Multidrug resistance (MDR) remains a formidable challenge in cancer treatment, necessitating innovative strategies to enhance therapeutic outcomes. This review explores the potential of a synergistic gold nanorod (GNR) therapy (SGNRT) utilizing GNRs as multifunctional platforms for co‐delivering chemotherapy and thermal therapies. The rational design of SGNRT systems enables targeted payload delivery, circumvention of Adenosine triphosphate (ATP)‐binding cassette drug efflux transporters, and hyperthermia‐induced chemo sensitization. In vitro studies demonstrate the synergistic impact of SGNRT in overcoming MDR, emphasizing its potential for enhanced antitumor efficacy. However, further in vivo investigations are essential to assess the clinical viability of this nanoparticle (NP)‐directed approach against advanced multidrug‐resistant malignancies. The integration of SGNRT holds promise for advancing precision cancer therapies and addressing the intricate challenges of drug resistance in clinical settings.

Morphology‐controlled nanostructures are important functional materials in multidisciplinary research fields, such as sensing, imaging, catalysis, and energy harvesting. However, existing nanofabrication methods have limitations in terms of controllability, diversity, cost, and efficiency. Here, a novel nanofabrication approach is proposed to construct Au nanostructures with high controllability, cost‐efficiency, and high‐performance sensing and energy harvesting. The fabrication incorporates electric field‐assisted hydrothermal growth of zinc oxide nanorods (ZnO NRs) with two‐step gold electroplating. The ZnO NRs serve as a dissolvable template during the electroplating formation of gold nanostructures for eventually synthesizing pure gold nanostructures on electrodes. The synthesized gold nanostructures take unique composite shape of nanospheres (hundreds of nanometers) covered with tinier nanostructures (tens of nanometers) like floccules, grains, lamellas, or rods, which are highly controlled by regulating electroplating parameters. The gold composite nanostructures provide high‐performance sensing and energy harvesting, such as enhanced electrochemical sensing interface (electric double‐layer impedance decrease up to 97.1%), excellent surface‐enhanced Raman scattering (SERS enhancement factor up to ), and preferable visible–near‐infrared light harvesting (absorptivity near to 90%). For the first time, the application of tumor cell photothermal therapy with nanostructured electrodes and in situ bimodal monitoring of single‐cell impedance and SERS‐based molecular expression during therapy is demonstrated.
