Microbiodeterioration of Audiovisual Collections

Abstract: The permanence of audiovisual materials depends among other things upon their chemical composition and on protection from harmful fumes and gases and from dust. Motion picture films and magnetic tapes are deteriorated by such atmospheric pollutants, as sulphur and nitrogen dioxides, sulphur trioxide, hydrogen sulphide and ammonia.
