Microalgal-Based Bioenergy: Strategies, Prospects, and Sustainability

Abstract: The fuel crisis with the slumping reserves of fossil fuels and the exponential increase in the demand of energy necessitate a paradigm shift to a more sustainable and eco-friendly energy system. Microalgal biofuel has been recognized as one of the most prominent and versatile alternative renewable energy sources because it can be converted into a wide array of biofuels, such as biodiesel, bioethanol, bioelectricity and biogases such as syngas, methane, hydrogen, and hythane etc., with a lower carbon emission p… Show more

“…Biomass can be burned directly to provide heat or can be processed into a gas or liquid fuel to power generators . Although biomass energy shows promise as a good low-carbon source of energy, it still has some environmental drawbacks, such as the likelihood of deforestation and changes in land use. , Wave power, like tidal power, harnesses the energy of ocean waves to generate electricity. This type of system uses buoys or other devices positioned on the top surface of the water that can convert the motion of the tides into electricity.…”

“…The current crisis situation of fossil fuel sources, particularly gas and coal, is an urgent impetus for developing new renewable energy systems and energy storage. Many countries are currently concentrating their efforts on the development of the new generation of battery-powered electric vehicles, such as electric cars and electric buses. To meet the demands of rapid information processing, these vehicles will incorporate cutting-edge sensor and artificial intelligence technologies. , As a result, they incorporate many modern technologies, resulting in a massive amount of energy that exceeds the capacity of current batteries. The current explosion of batteries has had a negative impact on the environment. That is, how will used spent batteries be disposed?…”
