Micro two-dimensional electrophoretic analysis of changes in plasma proteins of next-generation rat of the pregnant rats administered to coplanar PCBs

Abstract: SUMMARYPolychlorinated biphenyl (PCB) 126 or PCB 169 was administered to pregnant rats and kinetic changes in plasma protein spots of their next generation (F2 rats) ages 1, 3, 6, and 15 weeks were observed by micro two-dimensional polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (M2D-PAGE).In the control group in which age-related changes were observable, changes in the form of the albumin (Alb) spot were recognized at ages 1-3 weeks. Only the Alb spot on the acid side, i.e., non-mercaptoalbumin, was recognized at age 1 we… Show more

“…The fact that mercaptoalbumin has increased suggests a rise in mercaptoalbumin biosynthesis in accordance with DES administration 7) . Similar results have also been reported in rats administered polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) 10) . Specifically, PCB126 has been confirmed to increase mercaptoalbumin to a greater degree than PCB169, and to have a greater effect in vivo.…”

“…As most proteins in plasma are synthesized in the liver, it is conceivable that DES disrupts AUG synthesis in the liver 4) . Intake of exogenous chemicals, such as dioxins, has also been reported to reduce AUG 10) , but this is believed to be the result of AUG consumption and depletion owing to promotion of retinol metabolism through similar administration. In both cases, the decrease in AUG affects the development of the genitals.…”
