“…Different from the spherical NPs with isotropic properties, embedded shape‐anisotropic NPs (such as nanorods and nanoellipsoids) bring out corresponding changes of optical properties in the nanocomposite system, e.g., polarization‐dependent absorption and giant enhancement of near‐field distribution. [ 65–73 ] Since the elongation of embedded Co NPs was first achieved by 200 MeV 127 I ions in 2003, swift heavy ion irradiation has been proved to be an efficient ion beam technology to reshape the morphology of NPs for nanocomposite modification in photonic applications. [ 74 ] As shown in Figure , the elongated embedded NPs are perfectly aligned along the controllable beam direction and well protected by the dielectrics, which overcomes the limitation of unstability and weak anisotropy by integrated effects of randomly arranged NPs.…”

“…We have found that SHI mediated thermal spike induced high temperatures (≈4000–6000 K) modify various metal clusters viz. FeCo 23 , 24 or Ni 25 , 26 differently. The spin-spin interaction controls the local structural parameters in these ferromagnetic nanoclusters 26 , 27 .…”

“…FeCo 23 , 24 or Ni 25 , 26 differently. The spin-spin interaction controls the local structural parameters in these ferromagnetic nanoclusters 26 , 27 . As a result of these local structural modifications, we have observed (i) triggering of the spin-flipping modulated exchange bias effect at high irradiation dose in FeCo NPs, (ii) reduction in Fe-Co nearest-neighbour distances (i.e.…”
