Micellar high performance liquid chromatographic determination of flunixin meglumine in bulk, pharmaceutical dosage forms, bovine liver and kidney

Abstract: a b s t r a c tA simple, sensitive and rapid liquid chromatographic method was developed and validated for the analysis of flunixin meglumine (flunixin-M) in bulk, pharmaceutical dosage forms, bovine liver and kidney. Analytical separation was performed in less than 4 min using a C 18 column with UV detection at 284 nm. A micellar solution composed of 0.15 M sodium dodecyl sulphate, 8% n-butanol and 0.3% triethylamine in 0.02 M phosphoric acid buffered at pH 7.0 was used as the mobile phase. The method was ful… Show more

“…Currently, FM detection methods include high performance liquid chromatography (Belal, Abd El-Razeq, Fouad, & Fouad, 2015) and chromatography (Howard et al, 2014;Lee & Maxwell, 2014). Even though these methods are highly accurate and sensitive, they are costly and require complex sample pretreatment steps and trained personnel.…”

“…Literature survey represented that several methods have been reported for determination of OXY alone or in combination with other drugs. These include spectrophotometric method [ 7 ], HPLC [ 8 11 ], colorimetric [ 12 , 13 ], fluorometric [ 14 , 15 ], and electrochemical methods [ 16 ], while FLU was determined by spectrophotometric [ 17 ], HPLC [ 18 23 ], and voltammetric methods [ 24 , 25 ]. To the best of our knowledge, no method has been reported for the simultaneous determination of OXY and FLU in their pharmaceutical preparation.…”

“…The dosing formulation of FXN was the second most frequent violative residue detected by the USDA-Food Safety Inspection Service (FSIS) in 2010 [ 12 ]. To protect consumers from health-threatening residues, several analytical methods have been used for analyzing FXN in biological matrices, such as voltammetry [ 13 ], high performance liquid chromatography [ 14 16 ], thin-layer chromatography [ 17 ], gas chromatography [ 18 22 ], and capillary electrophoresis [ 23 ]. The analytical methods for the determination of FXN in milk included high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) [ 24 ], liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry (LC/MS) [ 21 , 25 , 26 ], and gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS) [ 21 ].…”
