Micellar and Interfacial Behavior of Mixed Systems Containing Glycoside‐Based Surfactant and Cationic Didecyldimethylammonium Chloride

Abstract: The behavior of binary mixtures of glycosidebased surfactants in combination with didecyldimethylammonium chloride (DDAC) has been studied using surface tension measurements. The three glycoside-based surfactants are nonionic decyl glycoside (APG), nonionic dodecyl ethoxy glycoside (AEG) and anionic disodium dodecyl ethoxy glycoside citrate (AEG-EC). Lower critical micelle concentrations (CMC) and minimum molecular area (A min ) values were obtained for all the mixed systems. The pC 20 values of APG/DDAC and A… Show more

“…21 A few investigations have been conducted on cationic/nonionic mixed surfactant systems containing nonionic APGs. [22][23][24] In this work, a new cationic AAS, arginine dihydrochloride dodecyl ester (ADDE), in a mixed system with APG, is investigated to identify the advantages of the surfactant systems. Here, ADDE was synthesized in our lab through esterification and transesterification reactions.…”

“…For several decades, polymeric surfactants have been used to control the stability of colloids in conformity with their applications [1]. Polymeric surfactants (PS) and surfactants are used together in several commercial applications; therefore, a good understanding of their interactions is important from a theoretical and a practical (industrial) point of view [2,3]. Polymeric resins (PR) are ethoxylated phenol-formaldehyde resins, a special kind of grafted copolymers that can serve as surfactants.…”
