MeV scale leptonic force for cosmic neutrino spectrum and muon anomalous magnetic moment

Abstract: Characteristic patterns of cosmic neutrino spectrum reported by the IceCube Collaboration and long-standing inconsistency between theory and experiment in muon anomalous magnetic moment are simultaneously explained by an extra leptonic force mediated by a gauge field with a mass of the MeV scale. With different assumptions for redshift distribution of cosmic neutrino sources, diffuse neutrino flux is calculated with the scattering between cosmic neutrino and cosmic neutrino background through the new leptonic … Show more

“…However, if SM fields are charged in a vectorlike fashion, for instance differences of baryon/lepton number between two generations, then no additional fermions are necessary. We expect that DUNE will have the strongest sensitivity to such new physics when the new symmetry is leptophilic, and therefore focus on the case of a L α − L β gauge boson with α, β = e, µ, τ [75][76][77][78][79][80][81][82][83][84][85][86][87][88].…”

“…Moreover, it was pointed out in Refs. [26][27][28][29] that an MeV scale Z µτ causes significant attenuation in the flux of high energy cosmic neutrinos and can explain the unexpected dip in the energy spectrum of high energy cosmic neutrinos reported by the IceCube Collaboration.…”

“…The detailed analysis for Z µτ was already done in Refs. [26,29]. Thus, in this section, we focus only on h 3 and ζ 3 and check whether they can serve as the mediator of the resonant scattering, just as Z µτ does.…”
