METTL7B is a novel prognostic biomarker of lower-grade glioma based on pan-cancer analysis

Abstract: Methyltransferase-like 7B (METTL7B) is a member of the methyltransferase-like protein family that plays an important role in the development and progression of tumors. However, its prognostic value and the correlation of METTL7B expression and tumor immunity in some cancers remain unclear. By analyzing online data, we found that METTL7B is abnormally overexpressed in multiple human tumors and plays an important role in the overall survival (OS) of patients with 8 cancer types and disease-free survival (DFS) of… Show more

“…In one large-cohort multi-cancer, multiomics study, higher METTL7A expression was determined to have the most favorable survival across cancers compared to other METTLs (Campeanu et al, 2021). METTL7B , antithetically, is significantly upregulated across most cancers (Jiang et al, 2021). TMT1B1 regulates the epithelial-mesenchymal transition of thyroid cancer cells in the presence of TGF-β, an important regulator of cancer immunosuppression (Ye et al, 2019; Chen et al, 2021; Xiong et al, 2021); and in multiple cell lines, TMT1B1 promotes G1 to S phase transition in cancer cells (Liu et al, 2020; Li et al, 2021).…”

“…An EMT signature performs well in predicting the overall survival, and the model is associated with immune infiltration, proving its potential role in regulating immune status [ 16 ]. Additionally, other EMT-immune-related biomarkers, for example, LIPH, CDH11, SETBP1, and so on, also have prognostic value in different cancers [ 17 23 ]. However, they are far from sufficient, more biomarkers should be identified and verified.…”

“…The TMB represents the number of somatic gene mutations existed in the cancer cells [ 28 ]. MSI refers to genetic instability caused by impaired DNA MMR [ 29 ]. MMR maintains the integrity and stability of the whole genome by correcting DNA replication or recombination errors [ 30 ].…”
