Metropolitan Area Network Model Design Using Regional Railways Information for Beyond 5G Research

Abstract: To accelerate research on Beyond 5G (B5G) technologies in Japan, we propose an algorithm that designs mesh-type metropolitan area network (MAN) models based on a priori Japanese regional railway information, because ground-truth communication network information is unavailable. Instead, we use the information of regional railways, which is expected to express the necessary geometric structure of our metropolitan cities while remaining strongly correlated with their population densities and demographic variatio… Show more

“…3). The metro network is the Tokyo23 covering an urban area up to tens of kilometers in diameter [25]. It consists of 43 100-Gbps bi-directional links and 23 nodes (1-23), with each node located at each ward office building in the Tokyo metropolitan area.…”

“…4.2 Extended example on a medium topology: Tokyo MAN Fig. 2 shows the 23-node MAN topology for Tokyo [18] for testing our algorithm. In this detailed examination, given the extensive scale and intricate nature of the network topology, our analysis will be concentrated on a select number of routing paths rather than the entire network.…”
