Methodology for Modeling the Spread of Radioactive Substances in Case of an Emergency Release at a Nuclear Power Plant

Larysa Levchenko,
Mykola Biliaiev,
Viktoriia Biliaieva
et al.

Abstract: The methodology for modeling the propagation of accidental releases of radionuclides from a power unit of a nuclear power plant has been developed. The calculation method takes into account the most critical factors propagation cloud - wind direction and speed, the intensity of the release radionuclides change: semi-continuous release, long-term release, instantaneous release. Diffuse processes and the presence of interference in the form of buildings were also taken into account. To solve the modeling equatio… Show more

“…An effective method of designing ventilation systems with the required parameters is the modeling of the distribution of air flows that carry air ions. The application of approaches to modeling the propagation of particles with air flow is given in [14]. Using velocity-potential ratios instead of the Navier-Stokes equation provides an acceptable error and speeds up the calculation process.…”

“…At the same time, the dynamics of the development of accidents is not taken into account. The study [9] laid the methodological foundations for modeling the spread of a cloud radioactive substances, which is formed in the event of an emergency release of a reactor. The application of the velocity potential equation to build the emission propagation model allows you to speed up the calculation process.…”
