Method rationale in method engineering and use

Abstract: While the major aspect in method engineering is method assembly, a second aspect is the argumentation behind the methods. This paper introduces the concept of method rationale in method engineering and use as a communication vehicle between method and software engineers, and describes tools that support the capture and management of method rationale in a computer-aided method engineering environment.
