Method of evaluation of the technical condition of the diesel-electric unit

Abstract: The article presents an innovative method of evaluating technical condition of marine diesel engines driving electric power generator. The presented method is based on measurements of the phase-to-phase voltage of the synchronous generator and on measurements of the acceleration of the injector needle. The basis for the method is an assumption that the shapes of the waveforms of the phase-to-phase voltage of the generator include information on fluctuations of the angular velocity of the engine crankshaft. Con… Show more

“…Then, the measures used to assess the model adequacy were selected. As in the case of previous diagnostic tests [11,12], these were:  excess air factor ,  hourly fuel consumption Ge,  measure K characterizing the similarity of indicated pressure courses, as a function of the crankshaft rotation angle [16].…”

“…in the case of the tested engine, its crankshaft rotational speed, engine torque load, oil temperature and indicated pressure. Parallel to the empirical research, model research was carried out using the author's model of a marine diesel engine with self-ignition [20,21]. The study plan was presented in the form of an algorithm (Fig.…”

“…Parallel to the empirical research, model research was carried out. An original mathematical model implemented in a computer program was used for model research [21]. The program is based on thermodynamic relationships and allows to conduct research for virtually any compressionignition engine.…”
