“…aureus is a common pathogen that can cause post-partum clinical and subclinical endometritis in humans and animals (Turner et al 2012;Zhang et al 2017). During the long-term use of antibiotics, S. aureus has been found to develop resistance (Hiramatsu 2001;Lai et al 2018;Pirolo et al 2019). To (Koehbach 2017).…”

“…Staphylococcus aureus is a facultative pathogen that can cause myriad infectious diseases in humans and animals (Fluit 2012;Foster 2012;Lai et al 2018;Tong et al 2015), including endometritis, a common reproductive disease (Sheldon and Owens 2017), and severely impaired reproductive performance (Gilbert et al 2005); if not controlled, it may promote the development of septicemia and sepsis (Skovbakke and Franzyk 2017). It is estimated that 340 million women get bacterial infections in the uteri each year, and 15~20% animals develop clinical or subclinical endometritis beyond 3 weeks post-partum, costing billion dollars for treatments annually (Turner et al 2012).…”

“…More recently, in a longitudinal survey (bimonthly for 6 months with four surveys) for MRSA carriage amongst residents and HCWs in four nursing homes in northern Taiwan between August 2016 and February 2017 (unpublished data), we found that 40 % of the participants had MRSA carriage and again ST45 accounted for nearly half of the 172 MRSA isolates. In two other surveys for MRSA colonization among residents and environments conducted in six nursing homes in 2015 and 2016, respectively, MRSA ST45 accounted for nearly 30 and 20 % of the MRSA isolates, respectively [ 40, 41 ]. These findings suggest that the MRSA ST45 strain has prevailed in nursing homes in Taiwan since 2012 or probably earlier.…”

“…Moreover, Roch et al (2017) have described a clinical case with MRSA infection in which the strain isolated was resistant to daptomycin (Roch et al, 2017). Indeed, MRSA have not developed resistance only to daptomycin but also to tetracycline and ciprofloxacin (Lai et al, 2017).…”
