BackgroundBasal cell carcinoma (BCC) is the most common form of skin cancer, affecting millions of people worldwide. The treatment concept for BCCs is the surgical one, but it is costly, as such, searching for alternative medical therapeutics is justified.AimTo highlight the efficacy of high concentration (70%) trichloroacetic acid (TCA) as a choice therapy for low-risk BCC.Method and patientAuthors present, for the first time, the use of a high concentration TCA applied once a week for 2 consecutive weeks with a toothpick, on a patient with BCC on the right preauricular area.ResultsOn examination 4 weeks later, the lesion was not clinically and dermatoscopically evidenced.ConclusionHigh concentration TCA could be an effective and safe, non-invasive choice of therapy for low-risk BCC, easy to perform, not expensive, with good cosmetic results, especially for patients who are not likely to undergo invasive or expensive treatments.

Case series summary Malignant basal cell tumours may be seen on or near the nasal planum in cats, and include basal cell carcinomas, which are common, and basosquamous carcinomas, which are rare. Reported treatments for these tumours include surgical excision, radiotherapy, photodynamic therapy and cryosurgery. This report describes the successful management of basal cell tumours with electrochemotherapy (ECT), including calcium electroporation, in three cats. Relevance and novel information All patients had a complete response lasting at least 9 months to 1 year. The adverse effects of this treatment were minimal and were limited to nasal discharge, sneezing and scabs at the treatment site. ECT and calcium electroporation are a safe, minimally invasive and effective option for the treatment of feline basal cell carcinoma and basosquamous carcinomas.

Introduction The aging of society leads to an increase in the occurrence of basal cell carcinoma (BCC). BCC includes both superficial and nodular lesions with a good prognosis as well as foci that are difficult to treat and require a multidisciplinary approach. There are two basic methods of treating BCC, surgery to remove the tumor and cryosurgery. The paper presents a case of an 82-year-old female patient suffering from BCC in a non-advanced stage of the disease with the presentation of subsequent stages of treatment.Aim of the studyAn attempt was made to confront an alternative method of BCC treatment by cryosurgery with the first-choice procedure - surgical excision of the tumor with a margin of healthy tissues.Description of the caseAn individual clinical case study including the patient's medical records.ConclusionsThe work emphasizes the importance of comprehensive care for a patient diagnosed with BCC.Individualization of the diagnostic and therapeutic process is the basis for dealing with the elderly patient.
