“…According to Turner et al, in over one-third of reported cases metastases to a meningioma were the primary findings of previously undetected cancers. Lung and breast carcinoma appear as the origin of metastases in numerous cases [6,16,22]. To our knowledge, only two cases of neuroendocrine neo-plasm metastasis to a meningioma were reported in the literature [3,20]; in both cases clinical symptoms of systemic cancer appeared previously to TTMM occurrence.…”

“…Tumour-to-meningioma metastasis (TTMM) is a rare phenomenon however in last few years repeatedly reported in the literature [12,22]. Meningiomas most commonly occur to be a target by metastatic spread of cancers.…”

“…The same trend seems to exist for the sources of metastasis to intracranial tumors. [ 28 ] Among patients with a known systemic neoplasm, the differential diagnosis of a dural-based intracranial mass mainly involves meningioma, metastatic tumor, secondary malignancy due to cancer therapeutics, and rarely a combination of these. Limitation of routine imaging workups like CT or MRI in differentiation between these possible diagnoses affirms the importance of careful pathological analysis as the tumor-to-tumor metastasis could be missed if the whole tumor is not carefully sampled.…”

“…Two, pulmonary meningothelial proliferations/nodules are not a terribly uncommon finding incidentally in lung resections and will be the subject of the latter part of this review as part of the spectrum of extracranial/extraneuraxial lesions of meningothelial lineage. Three, there are multiple case reports of concurrent CNS and pulmonary meningiomas [17] as well as reports of concurrent PEMs in lung and bone [18], metastases from CNS meningiomas to the lung [19] in particular, and metastases from other tumors into CNS meningiomas [20] and even metastases from PEMs to the lung [21]. Four, PPM can be mimickers of a primary lung cancer, now the second most common cancer in both men and women in the United States and therefore should be considered (albeit somewhat down the differential diagnostic list) by every pathologist who looks at lung biopsies and resections [22].…”
