Metastable complexes of some d- and f-block metals with mesogenic cyanobiphenyls

Abstract: Formation of metastable complexes with different metal to mesogenic ligand ratio (M/L = 1/2 and 1/1) has been shown by IR-, UV-Vis, ESR-spectroscopic techniques for low temperature co-condensation of some d-and f-block transition metals (Ag, Cu, Eu, Sm) and mesogenic derivatives of cyanobiphenyls. The Quantum chemistry calculations have been carried out to study equilibrium structures of complexes. Biligand complex models with one and two metal atoms and antiparallel disposition of two ligand molecules are con… Show more

“…Being interested in various subjects he invited to the conferences specialists working in different fields, and reports and numerous discussions with participants stimulated new themes in his investigations. So, it is quite natural that the most part of papers in this issue devoted both organic crystal chemistry [107][108][109] and structural investigations of other objects [102,[110][111][112] are presented by regular participants of these conferences.…”

“…Cryochemical synthesis allowed us to obtained new compounds and complexes for series of d-and f-metals (Shabatina, 2007). The competitive interactions of atoms and dimers of europium and samarium with alkylcyanobiphenyls and cyanophenylpyridines and metastable complexes have been obtained and characterized by FTIR, UV-Vis and ESRspectroscopy (Shabatina et.al, 2005, Vlasov 2005 complex structures with different stoichiometric metal to ligand ratio ML 2 and M 2 L 2 were shown by combination of spectral data with the results of DFT-B3LYP modeling of the system.…”
