“…The complex [((CH3)2PS)2N]2Con is isomorphous with the analogous nickel complex [((CH3)2PS)2N]2Nin which has been shown26 to have a tetrahedral N1S4 unit by a single-crystal X-ray structural determination. Apart from some dithiophosphates27 and dithiophosphinates, 28 The sulfur-containing bis (imidodithiodiphosphino)cobalt(II) complexes ate the only examples of well-characterized tetrahedral cobalt (I I) systems having a C0S4 core. All of the "imidodiphosphinate" complexes of cobalt(II) show well-defined Curie behavior in CHCls solution down to -60°which indicates that little if any of a planar (5 = '/2) form is in equilibrium with the high-spin (5 = 8/2) tetrahedral form at these temperatures and the complexes to all intents are fully tetrahedral in this temperature range.…”
