Metal‐Thiolate Framework for Electrochemical and Photoelectrochemical Hydrogen Generation

Abstract: Hydrogen has evolved as the cleanest and most sustainable fuel, produced directly from naturally abundant water resources. Generation of hydrogen by electrochemical or photoelectrochemical splitting of water has been conceived as the most effective method for hydrogen production. Herein, a robust solid metal-thiolate framework (MTF-1) was obtained by hydrothermal crystallization of the reaction mixture consisting of 1,3,5-triazine-2,4,6-trithioltrisodium salt and Cu II under mild synthesis conditions. The mate… Show more

“…In recent years, bimetallic nanoparticles have captured massive attention in various research fields, including sensing, plasmonics, electrocatalysis, photocatalysis, and specifically heterogeneous catalysis. [19][20][21][22] As a new class of materials, bimetallic NPs are made up of two separate metal components. Typically, they display an amalgam of the qualities of the two component metals, thus making them superior to the individual metal components.…”

“…However, their high cost and scarcity limit their large-scale applications. Therefore, various materials, including graphene, carbon nanotubes [15], transition-metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) [16][17][18][19][20][21][22], transition metal oxides [23,24], transition-metal carbides (TMCs) [25][26][27][28][29], transition-metal phosphides [29][30][31][32], organic polymers [33,34], and nitrides, have been extensively investigated for replacing expensive Pt-based materials in HER.…”
