“…The formation of multidentate phosphine ligands by utilising hydrophosphination of alkenes as the P-C bond forming step is well documented and this has been extended to the intramolecular template assisted synthesis of P-macrocycles leading to macrocyclic phosphines with aliphatic backbones. 3, 5 It is of interest to see if a wider range of synthetic strategies might be used to give P 2 C NHC macrocycles with greater structural diversity and with alternative backbone functions including the more flexible aliphatic linkers. One such potential method is based upon internal hydrophosphination and our attempts to explore this methodology are discussed in this paper.…”

“…The geometry about the Mo 0 centre is octahedral, with the major source of distortion from ideal being the disparate metal−donor bond lengths [Mo−P av = 2.491(2) and Mo−C av = 1.989(4) Å]. The average Mo−P bond length is closer to that in [Mo(12aneP 3 H 3 )(CO) 3 ] [2.476(1) Å]7 than in [Mo(12aneP 3 iPr 3 )(CO) 3 ] [2.527(1) Å] 8. There are no significant differences in the Mo−P bond lengths for the secondary and tertiary phosphorus donors; the M−P tert bond being just 0.01 Å longer than the M−P sec bonds.…”

“…The Pd(2)-P distances [Pd(2)-P(1) 2.322(4), Pd(2)-P(2) 2.332(4), Pd(2)-P(3) 2.332(4) and Pd(2)-P(4) 2.316 (3) A] are very similar. For the same P atom, the Pd(1)-P distances [Pd(1)-P(1) 2.247(3) and Pd(1)-P(4) 2.243 (4) A] is shorter than the Pd(2)-P distances. This is a reflection of the relative trans influence of P versus Cl.…”

“…Tri- [4][5][6][7][8] and tetra-phosphorus [2,3,9,10] macrocycles with various ring sizes have been synthesized via template synthesis. We are interested in the preparation and chemistry of tetra-phosphorus macrocycle.…”
