Metal-promoted synthesis of amidines containing the model nucleobases 1-methylcytosine and 9-methyladenine

Abstract: The amidine complexes cis-[L 2 PtNH C(R){1-MeCy(-2H 2+ . In fact, addition of "proton sponge" leads to the immediate deprotonation of the amidine ligand with formation of the starting complexes 1b and 2b.)

“…The parent amidine, formed in the presence of platinum(II), was a condensation product of the benzonitrile reaction with 1-methylcytosine. 76 For comparison, in our compounds with amidinium cations, the difference between the C-N bonds was not larger than 0.014Å. 13) contain [Zn(quin) 3 ] À ions with zinc(II) in a six-numbered coordination environment.…”

“…2c,d) shows that the largest fraction of research is devoted to the creation of a C-N bond by the addition sp 3 -and sp 2 -(H)N-nucleophiles, as well as by coupling of some nitrogen heterocycles 5 with ligated RCN species. Recent examples include nucleophilic addition of di-and triamines to (nitrile)Pt IV species, 6 coupling of primary amines, 4b,7 ferrocenyl-functionalized amine, 8 and nucleobases 9 with Pt II -bound nitriles.…”
