Abstract: Metal phosphonate and phosphinate chemistry has a long history, which began in the 1970s with the pioneering work independently carried out by Prof. Abraham Clearfield (Texas A&M University, USA) and Prof. Giulio Alberti (University of Perugia, Italy).
