Metal‐mediated decarbonylation of phosphanyl‐phosphaketenes to afford phosphanyl‐phosphinidine complexes

Abstract: Dedicated to Professor Cameron Jones on the occasion of his 60 th birthday.The synthesis of group 10 metal complexes bearing a phosphanyl-phosphinidene ligand, [(H 2 C) 2 (NDipp) 2 ]P=P (Dipp = 2,6-di-iso-propylphenyl), is reported. These compounds can be accessed by the decarbonylation of a phosphanyl-phosphaketene with metal nucleophiles including M(P t Bu 3 ) 2 (M = Pt, Pd) and Ni(COD){[C(NMes)(CH) 2 N] 2 CH 2 }.
