IV REMERCIEMENTSCe partenariat a généré trois rapports ministériels qui traitent sur certaines problématiques du secteur (Legault et al., 1995(Legault et al., , 1997(Legault et al., , 2000. Étant donné que certaines informations ont été recueillies après la rédaction de ces rapports, certaines sections de la thèse sont présentées de façon intégrale afin d'incorporer tous les travaux effectués dans le cadre de ce projet. LOCALISATION ET ACCÈSLa région à l'étude est située à environ 30 km au sud de la ville de Chibougamau et 30 km au sud-est de la ville de Chapais dans la province de Québec ( Fig. 1.1). Elle recoupe la partie sud-ouest du feuillet SNRC 32G/09, la partie sud-est du feuillet SNRC 32G/10 et la partie nord du feuillet 32G/07, soit une superficie de plus de 300 km 2 .Le chemin forestier L-209S, accessible à partir de la route régionale 113 entre Chapais et Chibougamau, offre un excellent accès à la partie sud-ouest de la région à l'étude. Un chemin forestier, praticable avec un véhicule à quatre roues motrices, relie la partie nord-est de la région à l'étude au kilomètre 206 de la route régionale 167 qui joint Chibougamau à St-Félicien. La partie centrale n'est accessible qu'en bateau à partir d'une multitude de lacs inter-reliés. Les forages sur les gisements de Chevrier et de Chevrier Sud permettaient à la CMI de croire à un gros gisement aurifère à faible teneur localisé dans un schiste à séricite. HISTORIQUE DE L'EXPLORATION MINIÈRE DANS LA RÉGION DE FANCAMPCertaines similitudes (association de la minéralisation avec des intrusions felsiques, sulfures disséminés, altération en potassium) avec le gisement du lac Troilus (Fraser, 1993), qui appartient également à la CMI, ont mené à proposer un modèle de porphyre aurifère pour expliquer la formation de ces gisements. The Eastern Lau Spreading Center (ELSC) is the southernmost part of the back-arc spreading axis in the Lau Basin, west of the Tonga trench and the active Tofua volcanic arc.Over its 397-km length it exhibits large and systematic changes in spreading rate, magmatic/tectonic processes, and proximity to the volcanic arc. In 2005 we collected 81 samples of vent water from six hydrothermal fields along the ELSC. The chemistry of these waters varies both within and between vent fields, in response to changes in substrate composition, temperature and pressure, pH, water/rock ratio, and input from magmatic gases and subducted sediment. Hot-spring temperatures range from 229º to 363ºC at the five northernmost fields, with a general decrease to the south that is reversed at the Mariner field. Gold deposits of Orissa can be broadly divided into three broad zones of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, and Sundargarh districts. In Keonjhar district gold occurrences have been reported from Saleikana-Dimirimunda-Kardangi sector in Telkoi block and Gopapur, Gajipur, Adal, Kushkala sector in Banspal block. Out of these localities Gopapur area seems to be the most promising one. The Precambrian metavolcanics of Gopapur in the Keonjhar district host auriferous quartz vein. In this area detailed exploration is carried out by GSI in 1:10000 scales with pitting, trenching, drilling, geological mapping and geochemical survey. The Quartz veins are found in the metavolcanics being emplaced along the prominent schistocity planes. Three sub parallel sets of quartz veins with high angle dip of are delineated. Gold mineralization is associated with the sulphides and oxides in quartz veins, basalts and laterites and ultramafic and is exposed on the surface as well as in underground trench faces. Gold occurs as refractory form and in free grains within quartz and intimate association with pyrite and chalcopyrite and oxides (haematite, goethite, magnetite and cuprite) in the form of refractory gold. The gold content of the mineralized quartz veins and lateritic wall rocks varies widely from 1 to 9 ppm. Fluid inclusion study shows the temperature ranges 250°C to 37°C and the gold deposit is of mesothermal type. The gold is formed by the remobilisation from sulphide bearing minerals to oxide bearing minerals. From the mineralogical and lithological assemblages the Gopapur prospect can be compared with Iron-formation-hosted vein and disseminated deposit that is Homestake gold deposit.
