Abstract:Caretta caretta (Cheloniidae, Cryptodira) is a species of turtle considered a ‘flagship species’ in the Mediterranean Sea. Unfortunately, the circular marine currents and semi-enclosed configuration of the Mediterranean Sea encourage the accumulation of pollutants (metals, pesticides, etc.) emitted by human activities.
