“…These factors were determined before, during, and after the operation and could therefore potentially influence selection of the resection method. According to two recent meta-analyses, AR is associated with better DFS than is NAR because the poorer liver function reserve in patients who undergo NAR significantly affects the prognosis [28,29]. However, the available data remain insufficient to prove the prognostic advantage of AR because of substantial heterogeneity; the clinicopathologic features of patients who underwent AR or NAR are quite different among previous studies.…”

“…49 A systematic review suggested anatomic resection of liver approves survival and diminish recurrence comparing to non-anatomical but the studies included in this meta-analysis are not randomized trials. 51 Liu PH in 2014 showed surgical resection with TACE in HCC patients beyond Milan Criteria. They had reported a noteworthy improved long term survival with surgical resection.…”

“…Some studies (20)(21)(22) have demonstrated the superiority of anatomical resection over non-anatomical resection for treatment of HCC. Others (23)(24)(25) have questioned the validity of this suggestion, as they found no differences in HCC recurrence or overall survival rates for patients undergoing either form of resection after resection with curative intent.…”
