Platelets are anucleate but contain a rich repertoire of mRNAs. In this issue of Cell Reports Medicine, Shen and colleagues 1 present platelet transcriptomes from patients with myeloproliferative neoplasms to study disease mechanisms and generate a predictive algorithm for fibrotic progression.
