Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the mediating role of work engagement on the effect of the occupational commitment of workers on extra-role behaviors. For this purpose, the research was carried out on public and civil society organization personnel who will take part in the emergency aid and disaster management process in the central district of Tokat. The sample of the research consists of 162 emergency and disaster workers. AMOS and SPSS Process Macro were used to test the research data. Mediation typology developed by Zhao et al. was used to explain the mediation model. According to the findings obtained from the research data, it is determined that occupational commitment affects work engagement and extra-role behavior positively, work engagement affects extra-role behavior positively. Work engagement has an indirect only mediation role on the effect of occupational commitment on extra-role behavior. At the end of the study, various suggestions for practitioners and researchers were presented.
