In sociological contexts, the interaction between culture and religious content naturally reflects the dynamic nature of social phenomena, arising from the harmonization of societal norms and religious principles. The Cokaiba tradition exemplifies this intersection, blending cultural heritage with Islamic commemoration. This study utilizes a phenomenological approach to explore the significance of the Cokaiba tradition within Halmahera society in North Maluku, aiming to elucidate broader perspectives on the interplay between culture and religion. Through qualitative research rooted in phenomenology, this study investigates the dynamics of the Cokaiba tradition within the Fagogoru Community in Central Halmahera, North Maluku. Data collection involves immersive engagement with key informants, including religious figures, community leaders, practitioners of the tradition, and local residents, through interviews, observations, and documentation. Findings reveal the emergence of Cokaiba as a fusion of cultural heritage and Islamic celebration, embodying principles of monotheism and serving as a means to propagate Islam within the region. Despite diverse interpretations, the convergence of religion and culture within Cokaiba fosters harmonious coexistence, facilitating the integration of religious values with cherished cultural practices. However, limitations include the challenge of fully capturing individual experiences and perceptions with a phenomenological approach and the potential lack of generalizability due to the study's focus on the Fagogoru Community. Future research incorporating a broader range of perspectives and cultural contexts would enhance understanding of the intricate dynamics between religion and culture manifested in traditions like Cokaiba.

Classical Javanese literary works have many variations, one of which is the work entitled Wulangreh (teaching with dedication) written by King Pakubuwana IV of the Surakarta palace when Indonesia was still under Dutch colonial rule. This study aims to describe the beauty of universal Islamic cultural values in this book, which was published in the 18th century but is still being used today. The question answered is, are the universal cultural values in the book still relevant today? What values attract tourists to come and learn about them? The research method used is descriptive qualitative with a hermeneutic approach triangulated with the opinion of cultural experts. The data was obtained by interpreting the thoughts of King Pakubuwana IV written in the book and interviews with Kanjeng Yusdianto, a traditional leader of the Surakarta palace and the head of the Radya Pustaka museum, Didik Suharjono. The results of the analysis show that the values in the book can be a reference for the world because of their universal nature, including the values of equality, multiculturalism, and civilization. The beauty of the language and the message conveyed by the King is very touching, especially if tourists want to come to Surakarta to see directly Wulangreh, the tomb of King Pakubuwana IV, the Radya Pustaka museum, and the Surakarta Palace. The religious and cultural values of Islam in the book can be used as provisions for readers in facing life today. Wulangreh, Pakubuwana IV Tomb, Surakarta Palace, and Radya Pustaka Museum are icons of religious and cultural tourism destinations in the recommended Era 5.0.

Faisal et al (2019) researched the model of living together amongst Muslim immigrants in Papua by strengthening the economy, politics and communication (Faisal et al 2019); Lestari (2020) examined music as a model in creating peace among conflicting communities in Maluku with the musical approaches Hadroh and Trompet; Dandirwalu (2014) examined the reality of post-conflict segregation using a social anthropological approach. The peace in Ambon can be realised through the ambon manise totem (Dandirwalu 2014); Dandirwalu and Rehy (2020) analysed tahuri as a symbol of peace for Christian and Muslim communities in Tehoru and Telutih using a symbolic anthropological approach.…”

This article aims at analysing Baileo as a peace model for Christian and Muslim communities from the gandong countries in Maluku. The countries include Hutumuri (Christian), Christian Sirisori, Islamic Sirisori and Tamilou (Islam). Baileo as a peace model was lost during the 1999 social conflict in Maluku. Baileo (bale) is a place to discuss problems and a place for implementation of customary rituals in the country, whilst gandong is a relationship between two or more countries based on blood or hereditary relations. The approaches used are cultural anthropology and functional theology. This research study uses a qualitative research method with observation and interview techniques for data collection and Appreciative Inquiry (AI) model for data analysis. As shown in the Results and Discussion section, firstly, Baileo is a place to create solidarity between Christian and Muslim communities because of the gandong ties between them, which were very good before the conflict; secondly, the local traditions of Baileo and gandong have become a meeting point for Christian and Muslim communities because Baileo has sacred values, and gandong has mutual care and protection values as an implementation of ancestral promise; thirdly, reviving the fraternal solidarity of Christian and Muslim communities based on collective memory through shared awareness, cultural romanticism and retelling; and fourthly, the implementation of the traditional ritual of the inauguration of Raja Hutumuri in Baileo as a manifestation of peace for Christian and Muslim communities in Maluku because of the absence of mutual suspicion and equality between Christianity and Muslims.Contribution: The contribution of this study is that local culture, in this case Baileo, is very relevant for solutions or a common ground for resolving socio-religious conflicts at local, national and global levels. Thus, it needs to be developed continuously.
