Mental health quality and outcome measurement and improvement in Scotland

Abstract: Scotland's mental health quality and outcomes framework has a clear focus on the intelligent use of information and targets. Developing and refining our approach in partnership with key stakeholders has enabled a culture of trust over the use of information. The service is willing to collect it, analyse its meaning and redesign clinical practice and services to improve performance.

For example, several high-income countries have developed national strategic approaches to mental health reform with quality initiatives to achieve clinical improvements [2][3][4][5]. Specifically, quality checklists, glossaries, and documentation of health policy, programs, and institutional quality assurance reviews have been implemented by professional and government agencies to determine, monitor and improve the level of quality of services [2,3].…”
