BackgroundForensic psychiatry is a subspecialty dealing with the diagnosis and treatment of mentally ill offenders. However, forensic treatment standards vary. Differences arise among forensic treatment standards, due to variations in either the legal framework, the general psychiatric treatment standards, or the forensic training standards. Thus, to date there is no evidence-based pattern for how forensic services should be organized and provided.AimsThe aim of this article is to compare forensic services in various countries in order to contribute to the current debate on international forensic treatment standards, by informing about existing differences in available policies.MethodsThis scoping review was conducted by reviewing the academic literature regarding forensic treatment around the world. Studies were identified from Pub-Med and Google-Scholar. Keywords for the search included “forensic psychiatry,” “mentally ill offenders,” “legal framework,” “jurisdiction,” and the names of geographical regions.ResultsForensic treatment admission varies significantly around the world. There are countries that do not recognize forensic psychiatry as a subspecialty, whereas other countries apply insufficient forensic training. Most countries provide inpatient treatment for mentally ill offenders. However, service organization varies, including where the services are delivered (prisons, high-security hospitals, and general psychiatric departments). Forensic services are mainly centralized, although the need for outpatient care is emerging.DiscussionDifferences may originate mainly from variations in the legal tradition. These differences combined with the limited evidence on the effectiveness of the intervention imply the need for the optimization of forensic treatment standards on an international level. Therefore, further follow-up studies are needed.

<div><table cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" align="left"><tbody><tr><td align="left" valign="top"><p class="AbstractText">France has regulated the health system in great detail in some laws and regulations, but these regulations are insufficient to face the pandemic of Covid-19. This study aims to describe and analyze legal policies to protect health rights during the COVID-19 pandemic in France. It employs a normative legal research method with data sources such as the Declaration of human and citizen’s rights of 1789, the French Constitution of 1958, and laws and decisions of the French Constitutional Council. Since the Covid-19 pandemic erupted, French legislators have implemented adequate measures to prevent its spread.. The study results indicate that since the Covid-19 pandemic spread, French legislators have implemented adequate measures to prevent the spread of the virus through the appointment of the French Constitutional Council as the protector and guarantor of the fundamental rights of citizens through a system of judicial review. The control of proportionality in the system of judicial review is essential to strike a balance between the public interest of society and the rights of individuals to implement the adaptations necessary to protect public health, particularly during the Covid-19 pandemic.</p></td></tr></tbody></table></div>

Forensic Mental Health in Bangladesh is an unattended domain of mental health services. With about 17% of the population suffering from mental disorders per year and more than 80 thousand prisoners in the country, there have not been any studies to look into forensic mental health situations. This research has given an overview of the health and legal systems through qualitative research focusing on a desk review and key informant interviews. Findings show that though there are guidelines in the law and regulatory codes in the judicial systems, implementing those guidelines is not seen in many cases. There are several areas in the health system in terms of capacity, service and resources which needs to be addressed by the government for supporting the healthcare providers, lawyers, judges and mentally ill or disabled people. Our study also portrayed the current referral mechanisms connecting both legal and health systems while addressing different cases of forensic mental health. Finally, discussing the implications of the findings, we presented recommendations from our study and other literature.
