Objective: Stress encompasses academic issues, such as time management, increased work load, and new subject matter, but cannot be separated from stressors, such as social adjustment and financial pressure. Our study investigated whether perceived level of academic or practical attainment and the method of study were associated with the amount of perceived stress during students'' studies. Methods: A semi-structured self-administered questionnaire was piloted and distributed to 134 students at a chiropractic college at the end of a lecture. Results: The survey had a response rate of 81%. Students in their fourth year consistently reported the highest perceived levels of stress, with 81% feeling that their ability to study was affected by their financial situation and 56% felt overwhelmed at their ability to cope with their college workload. All year groups were stressed during their course of studies, but the stressor varies depending on the year of study.Conclusions: Year 4 consistently demonstrated the highest levels of stress. All students, regardless of year group, experienced varying degrees of stress while studying and the central stressor changed depending on the time position within the course.

University can be an exciting yet challenging transition for students. Many universities provide counselling services to students who need it during their tertiary studies but many students tend to avoid counselling. This study was conducted to identify the counselling service experience among undergraduate students. The emphasis was on the past experiences, awareness, attitude and perceived barriers on the intention and utilisation of the counselling services. This study found that past experiences, awareness and intention to use has a significant relationship with utilise counselling services within their universities. On the contrary, attitude and perceived barriers to admission is not comprehended as a factor to seeking counselling. These determinants are useful reference for university counsellors for their planning and implementation to create further awareness of their counselling sessions for their students.

Ключові слова: аутоагресія, суїцид, суїцидальна активність, суїцидальна поведінка, суїцидент.Аннотация. Изложены результаты исследования психологических характерис-тик потенциальных суицидентов среди юношеской молодежи. Представители мо-лодежи, склонные к суицидальному поведению, характеризуются следующими осо-бенностями: низкий уровень социальнопсихологической адаптации; подчинен-ность; отход от решения проблем; эмоциональный дискомфорт; высокий уровень тревожности. Исходя из результатов исследования можно утверждать, что в целом по выборке испытуемых (88 респондентов) преобладает средний уровень ситуатив-ной и личностной тревожности, хотя следует отметить, что существует тенденция к повышению уровня тревожности (как ситуативной, так и личностной), причем тре-вожность как личностное качество наблюдается у 40 % испытуемых, что указывает в целом на проявления эмоциональной нестабильности в молодежной среде.Ключевые слова: аутоагрессия, суицид, суицидальная активность, суицидальное по-ведение, суицидент.
