Mental and psychological conditions, medical comorbidity and functional limitation: differential associations in older adults with cognitive impairment, depressive symptoms and co‐existence of both

Abstract

The present results on COG, DEP and COG-DEP show the particular relevance of certain medical comorbidities and functional limitations to those three distinct groups of elderly people.

“…En tercer y último lugar, el conocimiento popular de la hipótesis que defiende que las mujeres, aunque más longevas, presentan peor calidad de vida, podría predisponer a las mujeres mayores a acudir a programas que fomenten el envejecimiento activo. Esta hipótesis se ve corroborada además, por estudios en población española tanto desde el punto de vista funcional (Millán et al, 2010) como psicológico (deterioro cognitivo y la depresión) (Millán et al, 2011).
