The digest has been prepared to review available clinical evidence on herbs used in treatment of menopause symptoms. Effectives of Humulus lupulus, Vitex agnus-castus, Dioskorea vilosa, Linum usitatissimum, Pinus pinaster, Turpgillere ait sebzeler, Cimicifuga racemosa L., Angelica sinensis, Oenothera biennis L., Hypericum perforatum L., Panax ginseng, Ginkgo biloba, Glycine soja, Trifolium pratense and Piper methysticum herbs were assessed for treatment of menopausal symptoms, in the studies. It was concluded that herbs used as alternative supplementary treatment for menopause symptoms have a limited effect, thus herb studies to contribute to available literature which constitute evidence are needed in order to assess effectiveness of herbal treatments for menopausal symptoms. Key words: Menopause, herbal treatment ÖZET Derleme menopoz belirtilerinin tedavisinde kullanılan bitkilere ilişkin mevcut klinik kanıtları gözden geçirmek amacıyla hazırlanmıştır. Menopozal belirtilerin tedavisi için çalışmalarda Humulus lupulus, Vitex agnus-castus, Dioskorea vilosa, Linum usitatissimum, Pinus pinaster, Turpgillere ait sebzeler, Cimicifuga racemosa L., Angelica sinensis, Oenothera biennis L., Hypericum perforatum L., Panax ginseng, Ginkgo biloba, Glycine soja, Trifolium pratense ve Piper methysticum bitkilerinin etkinlikleri değerlendirilmiştir. Sonuç olarak menopoz belirtilerinde tamamlayıcı alternatif tedavi olarak kullanılan bitkilerin sınırlı bir yere sahip olduğu, bundan dolayı menopozal belirtilerde bitkisel tedavilerin etkinliğini değerlendirmek için mevcut literatüre katkıda bulunacak kanıt düzeyi yüksek çalışmalara ihtiyaç duyulduğu söylenebilir. The WHO definition is that ''[n]o menses for 12 consecutive months with no obvious cause (such as pregnancy, lactation) will retrospectively define a women's last menstrual period'' (29). Respondents replied to questions about age at menopause in accordance with their own individual definition of menopause, which might not have met the WHO definition.…”
