Membranes of polyphenylacetylene as catalysts of the photodegradation of organic pollutants

Abstract

Membranes based on doped polyphenylacetylene act as catalysts for the photodegradation of organic pollutants such as chlorophenols and butylcellosolve.With a reaction time of about one day, an efficiency of about 70% can be obtained; in some cases, by optimizing the experimental conditions further better results are recorded. Some observations about the reaction behaviour yield useful info£ mations about mechanism.
