Meloidogyne incognita population control and nutritional status and productivity of Thompson seedless grapevines managed with different treatments

Abstract: A two-year field trial was conducted in a vineyard (northern Egypt)cultivated with Thompson seedless grapevines to evaluate the effectiveness of four "alternative" (biological/chemical) treatments, Bacillus megaterium, boric acid, calcium nitrate and chitosan, against the rootknot nematode Meloidogyne incognita (Mi), compared to that of the nematicide oxamyl. The influence of these treatments on plant nutritional status and fruit yield and quality was also assessed. All treatments significantly inhibited Mi re… Show more

“…We tested nementin-1’s interaction with the organophosphate dichlorvos against Strongyloides ratti , a nematode parasite of mammals. Dichlorvos is approved for anthelmintic use in mammals 39 , 40 . Indeed, we find that nementin-1 synergistically enhances dichlorvos’ activity against S. ratti (Fig.…”

“…Plant parasitic nematodes consist of four larval stages and the adult female and male. M. incognita completes the first cycle within the egg, and in the second stage, it infects plant root and root-knots were formed and completed their remaining stages within 8 weeks [ 40 , 41 ].
