Abstract:Migratory cells derived from the neural crest encounter both local cues and more distant signals as they effect specific morphogenetic outcomes. In this issue of Developmental Cell, Zhang et al. (2018) reveal how zebrafish melanophores use the sheddase Bace2 to "tune out" insulin signaling, thereby allowing stripes to form.
