Abstract:Melanin is a class of hetero‐polymer pigments commonly found in nature and widely in fungi. Often referred to as the “animal lignin“, melanin is a very abundant bioresource and features many catalytically interesting properties. We conceived that, upon light absorbance, the polymer could promote long‐distance electron donation to fuel redox enzymatic catalysis or controlled in‐situ generation of H2O2. Here, we report on a fungal photo‐biocatalytic system extracted from the commercially relevant A. nidulans, wh… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
