Meeting report: 31st International Mammalian Genome Conference, Mammalian Genetics and Genomics: From Molecular Mechanisms to Translational Applications

Abstract: High on the Heidelberg hills, inside the Advanced Training Centre of the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) campus with its unique double-helix staircase, scientists gathered for the EMBL conference "Mammalian Genetics and Genomics: From Molecular Mechanisms to Translational Applications," organized in cooperation with the International Mammalian Genome Society (IMGS) and the Mouse Molecular Genetics (MMG) group. Similar to previous meetings (Moskowitz et al 2019, Sanchez-Andrade et al 2018Tracey et al 2020), the 34th IMGC brought researchers together (albeit for the first time in a virtual format) to share their latest results. The development of cutting-edge technologies for genetic manipulation, single cell and global genomic/transcriptomic/proteomic profiling, along with digital in situ visualization of cellular pathways within tissues enabled researchers to delve more deeply into the complexity of disease phenotypes, developmental processes, and biomedical applications.…”

“…Over 170 researchers from around the world gathered in the beautiful Alsatian city of Strasbourg, France to participate in the 33rd annual IMGC from September 25 to 28, 2019. Organized by the International Mammalian Genome Society (IMGS), this conference built off the success of IMGC 2018 in Puerto Rico (Moskowitz et al 2019), IMGC 2017 in Germany (Sanchez-Andrade et al 2018), and previous IMGCs since 1986 (www.imgs.org/?run=home.histo ry).
