Mediterranean Diet and Its Effects on Preventing and Managing Type Two Diabetes: A Literature Review

Abstract: Diabetes has become a major epidemic in the United States. In 2012, 29.1 million Americans had type 2 diabetes and it is projected that there will be 1.4 million new cases each year. Having diabetes is a major risk factor for cardiovascular disease, renal disease, blindness and limb amputation.
