Medicinal plants

Abstract: We report here data on the isolation and chemical structure of lehmanin (a flavonone) and ammothamnidin (a chalcone) from Ammothamnus lehmannii Bunge. Their gastroprotective activities were studied in models of stress-induced ulcers and ulcers induced by reserpine and butadione.

“…Isolated individual components: D-pinitol (1), 20-hydroxyecdysone (2), cyasterone (3), α-ecdysone (4). Isolated individual compounds have been identified on the basis of the 1 H, 13 C NMR and TLC, as well as by comparison with reference compounds (see supplementary information). The structures of phytoecdysteroids are shown below, i.e., their names (Fig.…”

“…Phytoecdysteroids are at-tributed with numerous otherpharmacological properties in animals, including humans. They have been shown to stimulatecarbohydrate metabolism and reduce hyperglycemic response in rats and mice and decreaseweight gain in diet-induced obese mice, which have significant implications for reducingdiabetes symptoms in humans [10][11][12].They have also been used to restore renal dysfunction and fortreatment of cardiovascular disease [13,14].…”
