Medicinal and Phytochemical Analysis of Alcoholic Whole Fruit Extracts of Actinidia Deliciosa

Abstract: Present study investigates antimicrobial, antioxidant activity and phytochemical profiling of alcoholic extracts of whole fruit of Actinidia deliciosa (kiwi fruit). Cold and hot extracts of whole Actinidia deliciosa fruit prepared in methanol and ethanol and their different concentrations were tested against common nosocomial infections and human pathogens of skin, gestrointestinal tract and upper respiratory tract. Extracts were evaluated for their phytochemical constituents and antioxidant activity. Cold eth… Show more

“…17,21,22 Furthermore, the A. deliciosa extract acts against a wide spectrum of microorganisms, including Candida albicans, Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Salmonella enterica, and Salmonella typhi. 17,23 Moreover, the qualitative phytochemical analysis of the kiwifruit extract revealed the presence of carotenoids, alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, tannins, and terpenoids, which shows its high antioxidant capacity. 23 Phytochemicals such as vitamin A, vitamin C and carotenoids are required for the synthesis of collagen, a fibrous protein that helps to reinforce connective tissues, which hold the structures of the body together.…”

“…Such Chelation improves the lipophilic character of the central metal atom, which subsequently favors its permeation through the cell membrane's lipid layer. The variation in the effectiveness of various compounds against different organisms depends either on the impermeability of the cells of the microbes or on differences in the ribosome of microbial cells [35,36].…”
