“…As shown by this study, in 66 out of the 100 cases the scan provided not only very strong supportive evidence for the clinical diagnosis of hydatid cysts, but also complete information as to the number, location and size of the cysts, while in another 24 cases the location of the cyst(s) and the total size of the cyst(s) were accurately predicted by the scan. One might reasonably expect that the introduction of new radioactive substances for liver scanning -such as 99m Tc -and the use of more sophisticated display techniques and/or new scanning machines (13,14) will increase both the accuracy of liver scintigraphy and the ratio of complete to relative agreement in hydatid cysts of the liver.…”
