Medical Images Simulation, Storage, and Processing on the European DataGrid Testbed

Abstract: The European 1ST DataGrid project was a pioneer in identifying the medical imaging field as an application domain that can benefit from Grid technologies. This paper describes how and for which purposes medical imaging applications can be Grid-enabled. Applications that have been deployed on the DataGrid testbed and middleware are described. They relate to medical image manipulation, including image production, secured image storage, and image processing. Results show that Grid technologies are still in their … Show more

“…Then each of the bit planes is shuffled independently using Arnold cat map with different control parameters. The generalized Arnold cat map and its inverse transform are defined in (2), where and are control parameters, , , , are the pixel positions before and after cat mapping, and represents the length or width of a square image, respectively. The control parameters and serve as the secret key of cat map, and the authors use ( , ), (2× , 2× ), .…”

“…Medical image security is therefore becoming an important issue when digital images and their pertinent patient information are stored and transmitted across public networks [1][2][3][4]. Mandates for ensuring health data security have been issued by the federal government, such as Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), enacted by the United states Congress in 1996 [5,6].…”

“…This paper also introduces a method called wavelet frames that provide translation of invariant texture analysis. John Montagnat F. Bellet, H. Benoit-Cattin [10] proposed a method that explains Texture-based medical Image Indexing and Retrieval on Grids. C.R.…”

“…Finally, it connects to the LONI Image Data Archive (IDA), in which the ADNI dataset is stored, among others. Table 2 demonstrate that Grid-based solutions might be an a ppropriate answer to the archiving and c omputational needs of neuroscientists [40][41][42]. Indeed, Grid-based solutions to share data and carry out advanced computational analyses are spreading fast but very few have international capacity.…”
