The small and medium enterprises (SMEs) sector plays a significant role in any economy, particularly in a competitive global business environment. However, the SMEs sector could achieve its targets only if it embraced proven strategic management practices. Therefore, this study investigates the mediating role of strategic flexibility on the relationship between strategic planning and firm performance within the context of SMEs in Saudi Arabia. The resource-based view and contingency theories support the study's framework and conclusions. A cross-sectional survey was used to collect the primary data from a sample of 400 owners and managers of medium-sized enterprises in Saudi Arabia. Hypotheses were tested using the Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) method. The study tested the correlation and mediation analysis using PLS-SEM. The study found a significant relationship between strategic planning and firm performance. Also, there is a relationship between strategic planning and strategic flexibility. The association between strategic flexibility and firm performance is also significant for medium enterprises in Saudi Arabia. The results also revealed that strategic flexibility mediates the relationship between strategic planning and firm performance. The study's finding contributes to the planning-

Innovation contributes to economic growth by generating new ideas and improving production processes. At the same time, countries with high economic growth have the freedom to promote innovation. This article aims to examine the causal relationship between innovation and economic growth. Method: An innovation index was constructed using factors of innovation, utilizing principal component analysis. The study used Granger causality to investigate the causal relationship between innovation and economic growth. The sample comprised 34 OECD countries during the period 1961-2018. Results:The results showed that the United States had the highest innovation index, while Luxembourg had the highest economic growth. The study found both unidirectional and bidirectional causal relationships between innovation and economic growth. Conclusions:The study highlights the importance of innovation in driving economic growth and provides insights into the complex and dynamic relationship between these two variables. The findings could be useful for policymakers in designing effective strategies to promote innovation and foster economic growth in their respective countries. This study is aimed at developing a methodological approach to identify and justify the strategy for the development of enterprises` innovative processes, which enables considering alternatives and determining the priorities of adaptation as well as increasing the level of flexibility to changes in the business operating conditions. The study is based on the materials of 21 motor transport companies in Ukraine. The methodological toolkit is based on the proposed polyfactorial 3D model with the implementation of correlation, regression and cluster analysis. The use of the strategy for the innovation process development of the motor transport enterprise with the introduction of focus on the asymmetry of its directions increases efficiency, which becomes equal to the benchmark or close to the maximum efficient value.
