Medial elbow pain

Abstract: Medial elbow pain is uncommon when compared with lateral elbow pain.Medial epicondylitis is an uncommon diagnosis and can be confused with other sources of pain.Overhead throwers and workers lifting heavy objects are at increased risk of medial elbow pain.Differential diagnosis includes ulnar nerve disorders, cervical radiculopathy, injured ulnar collateral ligament, altered distal triceps anatomy or joint disorders.Children with medial elbow pain have to be assessed for ‘Little League elbow’ and fractures of … Show more

“…A pesar de que puede observarse neuritis cubital concomitante en hasta el 20% de los pacientes con epicondilitis medial (11) , la historia y la evolución de la enfermedad de esta paciente hacen que los autores planteen la hipótesis de una posible lesión directa del nervio cubital como consecuencia de la rESWT.…”

“…The diagnosis of Golfer’s elbow is essentially clinically based on a good observation and physical examination ( Zeisig and Fahlström, 2015 ). It can be misdiagnosed with medial collateral ligament injury, valgus instability, cervical spine radiculopathy, ulnar nerve entrapment in the grove (ulnar neuritis) ( Barco and Antuña, 2017 ). Most of the time patients have a normal MRI/x-ray report.…”

“…14 , 19 The medial elbow injury in young baseball players has classically been termed “Little League Elbow” and is classified as an apophysitis and ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) injury. 2 , 3 , 7 , 8 Medial elbow apophysitis is a more frequent cause of medial elbow injury in young athletes than a UCL injury. Medial elbow apophysitis is a traction apophysitis observed in the medial epicondyle of the elbow in patients aged 9 to 12 years and is caused by repeated throwing movements.…”
